Welcome to RASSLIN’ RECAP!
A weekly article brought to you by yours truly to get you caught up to speed in all things AEW or WWE. If you missed RAW or DYNAMITE this last week, no worries! I've got you covered!

The year 2024 has come to a close and it certainly had its fair share of ups and downs. WWE continues to break all sorts of records regarding ticket sales and attendance. The company has expanded its reach internationally with shows in Australia, France and Germany. WWE is certainly packing the punch on all levels and 2025 should be no different. They have already announced that Backlash in 2025 will take place in Mexico City. Not to mention, Monday Night Raw will debut on Netflix in January.

On the flip side there is All Elite Wrestling. I am personally ecstatic to see them get their shows re-upped on TBS and TNT and now will be available for streaming on MAX. AEW shows have been a home for me in the Chicagoland area and I love to watch them thrive. The product is not hot right now, but it appears that Tony Khan has finally realized that booking large arenas that he cannot fill is not smart business and will book smaller venues in the new year ahead. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the bad news continues to be poor booking, lack of character development, and uninteresting storytelling. I realize that AEW wants to be the alternate to WWE, but it worked a lot better when WWE was under the control of Vince McMahon. Now, they have real competition on their hands.

RAW

The show starts off with Jey Uso interrupting The Judgement Day. Drew McIntyre comes out and blindsides Jey.
Chad Gable defeated Otis in the first match of the show.
Dakota Kai defeated Zoey Starks to advance to the Women’s Intercontinental Championship Title Tournament Final.
Damian Priest and The War Raiders defeated The Judgement Day.

Sheamus returns to attack Ludwig Kaiser.
Lyra Valkyria defeated IYO SKY to advance to the Women’s Intercontinental Championship Title Tournament Final.
CM Punk and Seth Rollins meet face to face one last time before their match on the Raw Netflix Premiere on January 6th.

DYNAMITE
AEW held Fight for the Fallen simulcasted on Max and TBS.
Hangman Page defeated Orange Cassiday in the first match of the night.
The Hurt Syndicate defeated The Acclaimed via tap out.
Julia Hart defeated Jamie Hayter in the third match.
A video detailing the Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher history is shown next.
Kenny Omega returns live next week!
Mercedes Mone comes out and speaks to the crowd, tells us this Sunday in Tokyo, she’ll be facing Mina Shirakawa for the REV Pro title in a title vs title match!
Jey White defeated Swerve Strickland and Roderick Strong in a Triple Threat Match for the 1# spot in the Casino Gauntlet.
Hook challenges Christian for a match in two weeks.
Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Rob Killjoy and John Cruz.
Rated FTR defeated The Death Riders in the main event.

SMACKDOWN

The show starts with Cody Rhodes refusing Drew McIntyre’s help before Kevin Owens attacks Rhodes.
Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Andrade in the first match of the night.
Michin defeated Piper Niven.

Returning from a commercial break the scene is opened in the ring with Paul Heyman introducing himself. He tells us on Monday, January 6th we will find out who the real tribal chief is! Before he is able to leave the ring, Solo Sikoa comes out. Solo extends his hands and requests the microphone. He needs a favor and asks Heyman to hold the Ula Fala during the big match, if he can and Roman Reigns beats him, he will acknowledge Reigns as his Tribal Chief. However, if Sikoa wins, Heyman is to place the Ula Fala around his neck and everyone will know he owns the Bloodline and Heyman.

DIY v. The Motor City Machine Guns end in a no contest.
Nia Jax defeated Naomi, however Tiffany Stratton runs down and smacks Nia Jax with her Money in the Bank briefcase! Tiffany cashes in the contract and lands the Prettiest Moonsault Ever! She goes for the cover and lands the pin, winning herself the WWE Women’s Championship!

The Bloodline defeated The Uso’s and Sami Zayn in the main event.

THERE WAS NO AEW RAMPAGE THIS WEEK!

COLLISION

The first match of the night was the TNT Championship match featuring the champion Daniel Garcia defeating Mark Briscoe to retain his championship.
The next match of the night included Jeff Jarrett defeating Aaron Solo.
Private Party retained their AEW World Tag Team Championships and defeated Action Andretti and Lio Rush.
Toni Storm defeated Deonna Purrazzo in the next match.
Brian Cage defeated Komander, Dante Martin, and The Beast Mortos in a $100,000 High Speed Collision 4-Way match.
The main event included Rated FTR defeating The Learning Tree, however at the end of the match Adam Copeland grabs a mic. He is cut off by Jon Moxley on the big screen as it is shown that he has the Rock N’ Roll Express tied up! The Outrunners come in to save the day, but are taken out by Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagoli. Copeland and FTR run to the back to make the save.

What did you think about this week's matches? What was your favorite moment?
